In partnership with THUMP and Broadly--VICE's electronic music and women-focused websites, together we've created a platform to spotlight and recognize women leaders who are changing the soul and sound of electronic music.
THE FILM
On a mission to double female-identifying and non-binary headliners in electronic music, Smirnoff's Equalizing Music project brought together two pioneering DJs who are leading the fight for gender equality through inclusive electronic music collectives from opposite sides of the world.
We follow The Black Madonna, founder of America-based all-woman DJ festival, ‘Daphne', and DJ Rachael, a prominent East African DJ and founder of the DJ collective, 'Femme Electronic', as they journey from the streets of Kampala, Uganda to a Daphne event in Chicago.
What is your equal pay story? What are you doing to fight for economic equality for all women?
In this video from Planned Parenthood’s #WeAreUNSTOPPABLE art project, filmmaker Ani Simon-Kennedy partnered with Mighty Oak, a woman-owned company, to illustrate the stories of unstoppable women who are paving the way in the fight for equal pay. “As a young female filmmaker and small business owner, it pains me to know that at current rates, America will not close the gender pay gap until at least 2059,” Simon-Kennedy says. “Equal pay for equal work has been the law for almost sixty years, but it remains difficult to obtain.”

The film attests to the resiliency of the human spirit and challenges the national perception of life with type 2 diabetes.
